York County’s Board of Voter Registration and Elections today upheld an earlier count of two area school board races from last week.
The results for a four-way race for Rock Hill’s at-large school board seat and a seven-way race for three school board seats in Fort Mill were incredibly close last Tuesday, leading to a state mandated recount. Steve Rast chairs the election board.
In Rock Hill, Terry Hutchinson was confirmed the winner of the at-large board seat, while in Fort Mill, Scott Patterson, Pam Martin and Tom Audette will all be seated on the school board.
Rast says while not all ballots in York County had to be reviewed, a good many were part of the recount.
State law mandates the recount of any election with a margin of winning less than one percent.
