The search for a Winnsboro public safety officer who reportedly shot his estranged wife ended late Thursday with even more gunfire.
43-year-old Michael Roseboro was arrested just after sundown Thursday in Farifield County near US-21.
State Law Enforcement Division spokesman Thom Berry said that Roseboro shot himself while he was speaking with a Fairfield County deputy.
Roseboro had been on the run for several days after reportedly shooting his wife in Winnsboro, then skipping town in his own patrol car.
That car was eventually found earlier this week in Great Falls. Berry says the fact that Roseboro was a sworn officer himself made the search a little tricky.
