The man credited with organizing the East Town Neighborhood Association and serving as its first president has died. He was 81.
Funeral services for Mackey Joe Norman are scheduled for 2:3o p.m. Tuesday at Cornerstone United Methodist Church on Heckle Boulevard in Rock Hill.
Local historian Joe Sherrill says Norman was the East Town Neighborhood Association president when the neighborhood was revived during the mid 1990s.
Sherrill says Norman rarely missed a neighborhood meeting and was always looking for ways to help improve the area.
