After months of anticipation, York County’s first Krispy Kreme store opens this morning in Rock Hill. And with it, as in many Krispy Kreme grand openings across the county, comes a mob of people lining up to be the first 100 customers inside the store.

Lisa Johnson of Rock Hill arrived in line just before 5 p.m. Monday with her teenage daughter and her friends — all to get their hands on Rock Hill’s first Hot-and-Now glazed doughnut.

Johnson and her daughter were among the first 30 in line Monday.

The first man in line, Andrew Gossett, says he is currently “in between jobs” and lined up Sunday afternoon.

Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Ann Sheahan says what’s in store for the first hundred customers.

Sheahan says the corporate-owned store has hired a mix of 50 part- and full-time employees.

Workers showed up at 10 o’clock last night to fire up the ovens and cooking oil for this morning’s debut.
