The York County Culture and Heritage Museums Tuesday announced this year’s Keepers of the Culture recipients for their commitment to keeping,  communicating and connecting our cultural, historical and natural heritage.

One of those honorees is Pat Veasey, who says one program in particular that she’s involved in is very important to her.

The other new Keepers of the Culture are Joe Zdenek and WRHI managing partner Allan Miller.

Zdenek  is an active member of the Sierra Club and says he still has some concerns about nuclear energy.

Zdenek says there are also people who want South Carolina to be a dumping ground for waste so more jobs can be created.

Miller says the late U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy summed up how Keepers of the Culture feel.

The McCelvey Center’s Southern Sound Series kicks off November 13 with a performance by Nashville songwriter and session musician Darrell Scott.
