In just a few weeks, two Publix grocery stores will open in York and Lancaster Counties.

Publix officials Monday said the stores on Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill and along Lancaster Highway in Indian Land will open Wednesday, October 23 at 7 a.m.

Publix has more than a thousand stores across the southeast and the two stores in South Carolina mark the grocers first entrance in the Charlotte market.

Publix says its nearest competitor is Charlotte-based Harris Teeter, which already has a large stronghold on the market.
