Working Well, a collaboration between the South Carolina Hospital Association and the North Carolina Prevention Partners recognized Piedmont Medical Center for providing the highest standard of excellence in employee wellness Tuesday
Piedmont received the Gold Medal, which recognizes hospitals for establishing a culture of wellness where being active is the norm by providing access and opportunity for physical activity during the workday.
Dwani Mehta is the clinician and nutrition manager for food and nutrition services at Piedmont Medical Center. Mehta says the hospital has point of decision signage that prompts employees to use the stairs instead of the elevators.
In June 2012, Piedmont was recognized for meeting the standards of the other two pillars of the Working Well initiative – the Gold Star and Gold Apple, which represent excellence in employee tobacco cessation systems and delicious, affordable healthy food environments.
