After a dismal first half of the season, Carolina Panthers General Manager Marty Hurney was fired Monday.
The team tweeted that announcement just before 10 this morning with owner Jerry Richardson saying it was an extremely difficult decision.
Coach Ron Rivera addressed the change in leadership at a press conference today, saying he learned of Richardson’s decision earlier this morning.
Rivera says that despite the decisions made this weekend, his team remains focused on the last half of the season.
And with a number of games still yet to go, he says the season is not over just yet.
Hurney had been the club’s GM since February 2002 after joining the organization in 1998.
