NRC To Increase Inspections at Catawba Nuclear Station
The federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission says the Catawba Nuclear Station in York County faces increased oversight after an April incident in which the facility temporarily lost offsite power. The NRC says in a news release that two violations at the plant involved the modification of a Unit 1 generator protective relay that resulted in the loss of offsite power. The news release says one of the violations has low to moderate safety significance, while the second violation has very low safety significance.
