York County Authorities say they’ve apprehended the man identified in a Reverse 911 call as an armed suspect early Monday morning.

At 12:25 a.m., an automated voice said police are looking for an unnamed black man, 6′ 1″, 175 lbs. wearing a white shirt and dark gray shorts. The man was believed to have been armed, though the message did not say where he was on the run, nor where the alleged assault took place.

The man was apprehended within seconds of the initial message being sent. The man’s name was not immediately available, nor were the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

The message was disseminated via the county’s Reverse 911 system. Phones equipped with Caller ID would have likely seen an 817-prefix from the Emergency Operations Center.

Returned calls to the number were given a “message full” announcement with no further details.

I called the Rock Hill Police around 1:30 am they said he had been apprehended. Seems like they could have sent out a “go back to sleep” call.

It would be helpful to mention what area he is in. And….if we call the number back….it should play the message back to us.
