[media-credit id=18 align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]York County’s future plans for Knights Castle in Fort Mill were up for discussion last night during a debate held by the Rock Hill chapter of the NAACP.
The Knights are set to move to Charlotte in the spring of 2014, leaving the property adjacent to Interstate 77 vacant for future development.
York County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell says discussions are already underway for what to do with the property — even with ideas like an outlet mall.
York County owns that property. Blackwell’s challenger, Gary Williams, says the existing facility can still support new business and growth.
Blackwell and Williams are both vying for the York County Council district 6 seat.
Also on hand for Thursday’s debate were York County Council district 4 candidate Roy Blake, State Senate District 17’s Creighton Coleman and his challenger Bob Carrison, and District 15 Senator Wes Hayes and his opponent Joe Thompson.
Congressman Mick Mulvaney’s was not able to attend, but was represented by his Chief of Staff opposite democratic challenger Joyce Knott.
