Ajax opens $2M facility, adding 25 new jobs in York

Ajax Rolled Ring and Machine Company today cut the ribbon on a two-million-dollar expansion to its facility in York.

Ajax Chief Executive Officer Simon Ormerod says up to 25 new positions will be added at the new machining facility over the next two years. Ormerod says despite the slow economy, industries that Ajax supplies are quite strong now.

York County Economic Development Director Mark Farris says it’s always a testament to the local economy when existing industries like Ajax expand.

Ajax Rolled Ring and Machine supplies seamless steel forged rings ranging from 12 inches to 100 inches in diameter and weighing more than a ton.

The rings are used primarily for large gears and bearings, like those used in large mining vehicles and wind turbines.
