8 arrested in scrap metal theft sting

The York County Sheriff’s Office says a month and a half long operation dubbed “Operation Risky Business” has netted with the arrest of eight employees in the scrap metal business.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris says the six-week effort was prompted by the theft of more than 464-thousand dollars in scrap metal since this time last year.

Those arrested were:

• John Robert Snipes, DOB: 9-25-1950
• John M. Snipes, DOB: 6-7-1984
• Suzanne Wright, DOB: 12-8-1981
• Johnny Young, DOB: 1-3-1954
• Deborah Barnes, DOB: 3-12-1960
• Garrett Buckles, DOB: 4-24-1988
• Darius McCullough, DOB: 3-22-1980
• John Chappell, DOB: 2-13-1969
