Rock Hill’s chapter of the NAACP and a Winthrop sorority announced Wednesday they will hold political forums for several offices up for grabs this November.

The NAACP and the Winthrop’s chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha say they’ll host incumbents and challengers for city, county, statewide and national races September 20 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Hill.

Event spokeswoman Ann Wiliamson said Wednesday invitation letters have already been sent to several candidates, including those of the 5th District Congressional seat, State Senate districts 15 and 17, and York County Council.

The forum format will include a short opening statement, a question and answer period followed by closing statements from both candidates. A moderator will control the discussion and candidates will not be permitted to take questions among themselves.
