[media-credit id=18 align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]Next week’s Democratic National Convention is expected, as many conventions do, to give a “bump” to the party’s nominee — but one local company has already seen its own bump from the DNC coming to Charlotte.

Brian Rich is the co-owner of Q2U Barbecue in Lake Wylie, and earlier this year his vinegar-based sauce was named one of three official sauces of the DNC. Rich says as a result of the award his business is booming.

Rich says his restaurant has just reopened in the last few weeks after doubling the size of the facility and tripling the size of the dining room. And that’s led to additional hires — several of whom he was training during the noon lunch hour Thursday.

Rock Hill’s Outdoor Feast Catering also received a nod for the best mustard-based sauce, while an Asheville company was named the best tomato based-sauce.

All three sauces are packaged as a set of three and will be sold in Center City. But Rich says he’s glad to see other parts of York County recognized by the convention as well.

Rich says he’s already ordered 450 gallons of the sauce to be bottled.
