In just a day or so, the US Youth Soccer National Championships are set to bring thousands to Rock Hill’s Manchester Meadows, and in just over a month, the Democratic National Convention will bring 35-thousand delegates, media and dignitaries to the Charlotte Metro.

These two big events, back to back are garnering the eyes of the State Department of Parks Recreation and Tourism. Spokesman Marion Edmonds tells WRHI the DNC festivities will definitely leave an economic impact on York County.

Edmonds says from a public relations standpoint, South Carolina will be ready to fill the hundreds of hours and thousands of column inches of story-hungry reporters.

Edmonds says that investments years ago in Cherry Park and Manchester Meadows are now paying off.

And while organizers estimate the soccer tournament will bring in $3 million in direct economic impact to the area, there are other ways Rock Hill will stand out well after the final dollar is spent.

The four-day convention kicks off September 3rd in the Queen City, ending with President Obama’s acceptance speech September 6th at Bank of America stadium.
