County Council candidates trade barbs at Lesslie Stump meeting
Local and state elected officials and candidates in York County with and without opposition spoke Saturday during an old-fashioned political stump meeting hosted by the Lesslie Volunteer Fire Department.

[/media-credit]County Council Chairman Britt Blackwell and his challenger Gary Williams sparred once again over the Culture and Heritage Museums.
Williams, a former member of the Culture and Heritage Foundation, says the foundation was willing to provide the county council with financial information for audits.

[audio: 0603-Blackwell-A.mp3]The council’s rejection nearly a decade ago of a CSX intermodal transportation facility off Highway 21 in Catawba has surfaced as a hot topic in that race.
Patrick White, who is challenging longtime incumbent Curwood Chappell, says since then, the council has approved at least two large business projects that will generate lots of heavy truck traffic.
