Local radio host April Kauffman found shot to death inside New Jersey home

A local radio talk show host known for her activism on veterans’ issues was found shot to death Thursday inside her New Jersey home. 

Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said 47-year-old April Kauffman was found around 11:30 a.m. Thursday by a worker who called 911.

Housel said Kauffman had been shot numerous times in the bedroom of her home in Linwood, N.J., about 12 miles from Atlantic City.

Kauffman hosted a weekly talk radio program on WOND, where she advocated for veterans causes and other issues.

Harry Hurley who did several radio broadcasts with Kauffman, told The Press of Atlantic City that Kauffman; “Did the work of 100 people.”

No arrests have been made and the prosecutor’s office and the Linwood Police Department are investigating.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the crime to contact the Linwood police at 609-927-4108.
