Tyquan Lewis

One of the top prospects in North Carolina, DE Tyquan Lewis of Tarboro, plans to visit USC Tuesday for the Gamecocks’ spring practice. Lewis also has visited Clemson, NC State, Wake Forest and North Carolina. He is also planning to see Ohio State. At one time, Lewis had Clemson out front but he currently claims no leaders. He has said his strongest interest is in Clemson, USC, Ohio State, North Carolina and LSU. Lewis had 67 tackles with 11 sacks last season.

Quarterback Jeremy Johnson (6-6 215) of Montgomery, AL visited USC last Friday and Saturday to watch the Gamecocks practice and scrimmage. Johnson said he talked at length with his recruiter Grady Brown. “He was telling me South Carolina can be a great fit for me,” Johnson said. “He wants me to come back to talk with Coach Spurrier and Coach Mangus. I feel like they are close to offering.” Johnson said he did not get the chance to talk to Spurrier on his visit and spoke only briefly with Mangus. Johnson has offers from LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Houston and Alabama State. He has also visited Ole Miss and LSU and has no other visits planned. He does not have favorites. Last season Johnson passed for 2700 yards and 26 touchdowns.

OL Bryce King of Dillon plans to make a decision by the early part of the summer but has not indicated which schools he favors. “I do not have a favorite,” King said agreeing that it will between the schools that have already offered. Those schools are USC, Clemson, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, NC State, Tennessee and LSU. King has not made any recent visits but is planning to attend the USC spring game. He also expects to take a trip to Virginia Tech, though he is unsure of when that visit will take place. He said when he makes a decision he will either call the coaches or “make it (a commitment) in person”. He gave a time frame of roughly six weeks to make a decision. “It’ll be around then,” he said when asked.

Florida staged its spring game Saturday and the Gators came away with commitments from four prospects who also had offers from USC and/or Clemson. OL Joshua Outlaw of Atlanta and WR Ahmad Fullwood of Jacksonville, FL, have offers from the Gamecocks and Tigers. OL Cameron Dillard of Canton, MI has a Clemson offer.  And DB Tre Bell of Jersey City, NJ has a USC offer. Outlaw was at Clemson Wednesday. He’s also visited USC. Fullwood was at Clemson game last season and camped last summer at USC. Dillard was at Clemson’s junior day in January.  And Bell is scheduled to be at USC’s spring game this Saturday.
