Texas resident Colt Knost fired a five under 66 Friday for a two day total of 9-under par for the halfway lead in the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town. The former US Amatuer and Mid-Amatuer Champion is a two time winner on the Nationwide Tour but has yet to scratch out a win on the PGA Tour. He has made just one bogey in his two rounds this week.
Carl Pettterson is two shots back after a 65. Two time champion Boo Weekley and Harris English are another shot back at six under. Weekley had a 66 Friday, the 14th time in 22 rounds at Harbour Town he has shot in the 60s.
The best of the locals was Tommy Gainey of Bishopville who had his second straight 70. He’ll start the third round tied for 16th at two under par. Tom Gillis of Coastal Carolina is at one under par.
Others from the state to make the cut, which came in at three over, were Matt Bettencourt (E), Kyle Stanley (+1), and Lucas Glover and Mark Anderson (+2).
Defending champion Brandt Snedecker worked his way back into the hunt Friday with a four under 67 putting him at four under for the tournament. And the world’s top ranked golfer Luke Donald had a 69 on Friday and just made the cut at two over par.
