Rock Hill city planners said Thursday following an extensive workshop with city council that improvements to the road and sidewalks from Dave Lyle to Laurel Street will take shape in the near future.

Lee Gardner, president of Family Trust Federal Credit Union, tells WRHI that he has some big plans for his company’s White Street location, and the improvements in store are vital to any further investment on the part of the credit union.

The improvements to Laurel Street is phase one of the project, while phase two includes improvements all the way to the site of the former Rock Hill Operations Center.

Rock Hill Economic Development Executive Director Stephen Turner says that the north end of the planned development is strongly anchored by Winthrop.

Turner says the next step in developing the former Bleachery site is finding a master planner who believes in the vision for the downtown corridor and can find a way to profit from the development as well.
