Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott says he will conduct an internal investigation into why it took officers 10 days to find the body of missing lobbyist Tom Sponseller.

The CEO of the South Carolina Hospitality Association had been missing since February 18.

Sponseller’s body was found Tuesday in a locked room in the underground parking garage of his office building.

The Richland County Coroner says Sponseller died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police searched the garage for a fourth time after co-workers found a suicide note locked in Sponseller’s desk.

Sources told The State Newspaper, the note expressed remorse over an investigation into missing money at the Hospitality Association.

Chief Scott says he’s not happy with how the investigation was conduction and he’s going to make corrections.

Scott says more should have been done.
