SCE&G warns of phone scam

South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is alerting its customers in the Aiken of an ongoing phone scam. In a press release Wednesday, the company said they have had several reports of customers getting phone calls in which individuals are claiming to be SCE&G employees. 
 
According to the power utility, the individuals are requesting immediate payment of a customer’s SCE&G bill and threaten to disconnect their services if they do not pay.
 
SCE&G said they never call demanding payment from customers and that, if this happens to anyone else, they should know right away that it is a scam.
