46-year-old Debra Giles told police she was making her daily deliveries on foot when she approached a house with a pit bull in an outdoor kennel.

Giles told WRHI Tuesday afternoon when she walked up to the mailbox, a man inside the kennel with the dog said opened the gate, letting the dog free.

Giles was treated and released at Piedmont Medical Center and received 31 stiches. The dog was taken into custody by York County Animal Control and set to be euthanized late Tuesday.
