The State’s Mr. Football for 2011, Shaq Roland, will need surgery on a nagging shoulder injury, according to his high school coach, Scott Earley. The Lexington High star receiver, and USC commit, re-injured his shoulder Monday at an Under Armour All-American game practice in Orlando.
Roland initially injured the shoulder in the Shrine Bowl on December 17th. According to Earley, the “loose” shoulder has been an ongoing issue for Roland, is painful, and limits his range of motion. The medical staff in Orlando has cleared him to play in the all american game Thursday, but Roland will need surgery following the basketball season at Lexington High.
