Governor grades House better than Senate

Addressing a Rock Hill crowd Monday, Governor Nikki Haley released her legislative report card. There were 23 “F’s” reported–all from Democrats, with most of the “A’s” and “B’s” coming from Republicans.

“There’s not one thing on this report card that they weren’t aware of would be on the report card. They were notified prior. You were notified prior so you could see exactly how this would be played out,” says Haley.

The governor gave an overview of the report card–from both sides of the Chamber.

“We obviously got a lot more done in the House and I thank the House members for that. We had some stalled factors in the Senate and I would ask your help on that front in terms of getting the Senate to understand that time is money and we need to keep things moving for the people in this state so they can get it done,” says Haley.

Haley told the South Carolina crowd to praise their lawmakers for doing the right thing, when it’s needed.

“It’s not easy. There’s a lot of pressure in Columbia. There’s a lot of politics in play, and when they go out of their way to really try and get things done we have to thank them. So I thank all of you. I thank you for your friendship, I thank you for your support and I look forward to moving ahead,” says Haley.

Since Haley made the report card announcement in Rock Hill, she gave credit to the local “A-team” that was present.

“These people made A’s, worked with us the entire legislative session, helped us the entire way and deserve a great, great thank you from you. So, let’s start with Representative Ralph Norman,” says Haley.

Haley also congratulated Representatives Gary Simrill, Deborah Long, Tommy Pope, and Dennis Moss.

Greenville Representative Chandra Dillard received an “F” on her report card. She responded–

“The only grade that matters to me is the grade I received from my constituents. As I see it, we are supposed to be a team. What this indeed does is create an adversarial climate between a team that is supposed to be working to make it a great day in South Carolina. We can’t all have our way,” says Dillard.
